Direct Printing

Successful Direct Printing: If the monitored mailbox is configured for Direct Print, it will bypass the need for user authentication to release the job.

The following must be configured for successful direct printing:

  • The configured device is a Ricoh device with SLNX embedded installed.

  • The device must be online and operational. If the device is unable to print, you can change the device in Mailbox Properties.

  • The user sending the job via email must be added to SLNX User Management. If you are allowing guest printing, please configure the guest printing in SLNX.

When printing as guest user, release PIN will still be sent even though the print job is printed directly.

Failed Direct Printing: When device is unable to print the jobs, the following might be the cause:

  • The device selected do not have SLNX embedded installed.

  • The device selected operates in a cloud environment. As of the R5 version, only on-site direct printing is supported.

  • The device is experiencing hardware problems or connection is offline. You can check the device problems in the MFP status message.

  • The user sending the job via email is not added in SLNX User Management.

  • If using guest printing, guest print might not be configured correctly.

There will be no email notification returned to the sender about the failure to directly print the job to the configured device.

Even though the direct printing fails, the print jobs are still stored in SLNX Secure Queue and users can release it to any device just like printing a secure print job.
